World Book Day - Book in a Jar Competition

Tuesday, 05 February 2019

Dear Parents, Carers and children,

In preparation for World Book day we would like the children to enter into a brand-new competition called ‘Book in a jar’! All children are invited to think about what their favourite book is and then represent this book in a simple jar.

Please click HERE for some examples of books in a jar.  Feel free to use any clear jar such as: a coffee jar, jam jar or a clear bottle. As seen in the photos, you can put carefully chosen items inside the jar/bottle to represent your book including selected quotes from your book, perhaps even clues about its characters or setting.

Please make sure that any ‘Book in a jar’ competition entries are clearly labelled with the book that is being represented, your child’s full name and year group.

All entries must be in school on the morning of Wednesday 6th March 2019 for judging. The FROGS have happily offered to provide a variety of prizes for the best jars!

We have the following categories to judge:

  • EYFS – Nursery and Reception
  • KS1 - Year 1 and 2
  • LKS2 - Year 3 and Year 4
  • UKS2 - Year 5 and Year 6

Winners will be announced on Thursday 7th March.

Many thanks for your support and good luck!
