At The Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School, we believe the Music curriculum promotes curiosity and love and thirst for learning. It is ambitious and empowers our children to become independent and resilient like all curriculum areas. We want to equip our children, not only with the minimum statutory requirements of the Music National Curriculum but to prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life for example; during Christmas 2019 our children provided a special Christmas concert for residents in a local care home. The children sang a variety of festive songs spreading Christmas cheer and the true story of the Baby Jesus, what a great start to the festive season it was! We are committed to putting Music ‘on the map’, at The Good Shepherd. We want our children to use the vibrancy of our great town to learn from other cultures, respect diversity, cooperate with one another and appreciate what they have. We achieve this by providing a strong SMSC curriculum and core Gospel values at the heart of everything we say and do. This often feeds into our Music curriculum.
