You will be aware that here at The Good Shepherd, we currently run an After-School Homework Club from 3.15pm-5.00pm.
Initially we had two dedicated staff members who set up the club to provide wraparound care which offered an opportunity for children to do homework and have a snack as well as socialise with friends.
Over time, the founding staff members have been successful in gaining promoted posts within the school, which unfortunately has had a knock-on effect and caused issues for us staffing the After School Homework Club. Although we have advertised for staff on two occasions, with a limited response, in the interim this has meant that a number of staff have had to step in to run the club daily, for which we are extremely grateful for, but is ultimately not sustainable. In addition, you will know there have been occasions on which we have had to cancel the club at short notice.
Thank you to those of you who have offered your support. Whilst this would provide support our club in the interim, it would not alleviate the issue of cover and pressure on school staff in the long-term. Therefore, Rhino Sports Academy, who already run after our school sports clubs, have stepped in to support us.
We are pleased to announce that they will be running ‘Kidz Club’ at The Good Shepherd Primary School after Easter half term. Kidz Club will start week commencing the 17th of April 2023 and will replace After School Homework Club. We will be reviewing provision at the end of this academic year.
