The Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School

The Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School

The PE and Sports Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities that they offer their pupils.

The government is providing additional funding for this. This funding – provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – is being allocated to primary school headteachers.

The purpose of this funding is to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of. The school has the freedom to choose how they do this.

Our core aims for the appropriate allocation of our Sports Premium Grant are:

To increase opportunities for all our children to participate in high quality sports activities, both as part of the curriculum we offer as well as through extra-curricular options.

To develop children’s understanding of the benefits and enjoyment in participating in challenging and competitive sports events and activities and the positive impact this has on their health and future life choices.
